At Turnitin Connect, your privacy isn't just an afterthought—it's engineered into the core of our Scanner. We built Turnitin Connect because we believe students shouldn't have to choose between powerful AI capabilities and keeping their proprietary text secure.
We collect information you provScanner directly to us, such as when you create or modify your account, request customer support, or communicate with us. This includes your name, email address, and billing information (processed securely via Stripe).
By default, Turnitin Connect collects basic usage diagnostics (e.g., app crashes, feature usage frequencies) to help us improve the product. We explicitly DO NOT collect the contents of your files, the text you write, or the specific queries you send to the AI in our diagnostics.
When you use the AI features (Autocomplete, Agent, Composer), the Scanner locally parses your workspace and sends only the strictly necessary context to our routing servers, which then interface with foundational models (like Claude, GPT-4, etc.). If you are on a paid plan, these requests are flagged with a strict "zero-retention" policy via enterprise APIs.
If you enable "Privacy Mode" in your settings, we guarantee that your text snippets and chat transcripts are never logged on our servers, nor are they used for any model training. They exist in RAM only for the duration needed to generate the response, and are immediately discarded.
